This episode needs some work. The shoplifting ring should be run out of the group home for problematic teen foster girls. As the first of the girls in the ring is aging out of the system the woman running the home offers to take her to a friend who has a studio apartment for rent. the girl is happy with the apartment until confronted by the landlord and the woman in their Wesen forms attacking and killing her. Due to a disagreement about splitting the girl's money the landlord does not dispose of the body well and it is discovered quickly. Since this involves foster girls is would be really personal to Truble. Nick is trying to keep her out of sight since he is trying to train her to go undercover into the GRIMM organization. While Nick and Hank talk with the woman Truble enters the group home and finds some of the places the girls involved in the ring are hiding their money. Given the amounts of money Truble has found Nick and Hank begin looking into criminal activities in the area arriving at an increase in shoplifting incidents. Truble sneaks out and hides in the vehicle of the woman when she brings a load of shoplifted items to the landlord. Nick and Hank make the connection between the landlord and the woman as brother and sister. Nick finds Truble at the landlord's and gets her out of there before they arrest the woman and the landlord. Evidence is found of the murder in the studio apartment. At the end we see a dying man with a key like Nick's.

This episode needed a lot of work. The Wesen that comes after the dying GRIMM should be a Reaper. The GRIMM organization would have contingencies in place to recover the GRIMM artifacts from children that have not reached the age to see Wesen yet. This is how they have gotten couple of the keys. The only GRIMMs that know about the keys are the ones that have them. I like Truble bringing up that Juliet is keeping her options open. Juliet should feel uncomfortable about this. They find out Truble saw a Beaver type Wesen when she was 15 and from that she learned not to tell anyone what she saw and that it is easier to claim self defense if the person who attacked you is not dead. The dying GRIMM's son arrives when Truble is there with a sketch of the Reaper and the Reaper's weapon. Truble leaves with him and leaves the house empty when Adalind gets there and breaks in. Adalind goes through the bedrooms and learns that Nick has pictures of Juliet in his room, but Juliet does not have pictures of Nick out in her room. The pictures are kept in a dresser drawer. Adalind also finds the engagement ring in Nick's room. Adalind realizes she is going to have to implement her plan soon as she gets Juliet's hair from Juliet's hairbrush. The GRIMM organization and Reaper organization realize where the dying GRIMM is and try to prevent Nick from arriving at the hospital. The disgraced FBI senior agent gets some Wesen to try to get to the Dying GRIMM and his son first but are unsuccessful. Truble stays inside to talk to the dying GRIMM learning the ages female GRIMMs see Wesen is between 14-16 and for males it is between 19-21. Truble learns that any Wesen can trigger the ability between those ages. This makes Nick's family unusual. The key is found in the cane, the items are kept at the Spice Shop where Rosalie and Monroe remove the last doubts the son had about what his dying father was telling him, and the son leaves to attend to his father's funeral back home. Juliet waits until Nick and Truble leave the following morning to finally interact with the memory of when she moved in and realizes she moved in with Nick because she did not want to be alone and the memory of when Nick proposed realizing she intended to leave, but was not ready to do so at that time.

Most of the episode is mediocre, but that last scene is one of the best in the series. It was interesting that he also looked up, presumably to God, and said, "It's what YOU wanted, isn't it?" That's one of the only non-magical references to religious belief in the show, and it comes from Spike.

I've been chewing on my tongue for some weeks until I can talk about some of the things from Seeing Red on in order to avoid spoilers. First, I'll point out that Spike was trying to keep that he'd gotten his soul back secret. That's why he hit Anya (who was a demon, not just a woman) and it was Buffy who entered the fight against him so that's why he was fighting them. Next, one has to understand that there are supernatural factors at work that don't apply in the real world that complicate things. Spike back then, didn't have a soul. Think back to Smashed and Gone. In Smashed, Buffy started with violence and turned it to sex. In Gone she went down on him despite his saying to get her clothes and leave, ignoring his explicit denial of consent. Both cases amounting to SA, the latter one the actual "R" word, on Buffy's part. The only reasons that most viewers forgive it on Buffy's part is 1) Buffy is not in her right mind (extreme trauma and depression) and 2) Spike, it turns out, is into it. From Spike's point of view in the bathroom, he was just doing with Buffy what she did with him. We, as the viewers, see that the situation is different. Buffy is in a completely different "headspace". Spike, however, not having a soul, doesn't recognize that, not until Buffy kicks him away. Look again at the expression on Spike's face in that moment. He's horrified as he comes to the realization of what he did. And that's what motivates Spike to go get his soul back. Yes, he's always talking about the chip but remember, he can hurt Buffy even with the chip. If his goal is to hurt Buffy, he doesn't need to have it removed. The writer's were just being coy with that bit about the chip but there's actually an in-story reason for him to be going on about it. James Marsters has mentioned that he played Spike as being attracted to Buffy from all the way back in School Hard. That attraction grew under the surface until Drusilla picked up on it, and was why she left him (as we saw in the flashback in Fool for Love). But it was when the chip was installed, forcing Spike into close association with Buffy and the Scoobies that caused that attraction to grow. And with the growing attraction was a desire to actually change, and actual changes. Consider, when Spike thought the chip had stopped working (Smashed, again) he had to psych himself up to attempt to attempt to bite the woman, something the guy who said "I'm a veal kind of guy..." would never have needed. Okay, he's not a good person by a long shot but he'd come an enormous distance from where he started. There was his relationship with Joyce "I liked the lady" and his protectiveness of Dawn (and, incidentally, that's one thing--whatever there was between Buffy and Spike, she knew he would protect Dawn regardless, except, of course, he'd already left on his quest). But despite that, he doesn't really have a "conscience", no inherent understanding of right and wrong. Everything he has is learned by rote and by copying others and has huge, gaping holes (like recognizing how different the situation in Seeing Red was compared to Smashed and Gone). And it was that realization which sent him to get his soul back. And that chip started it all. And in that final scene, he's not blaming Buffy. Without a soul, he thought that getting the soul would "fix" things and he'd become what she wanted, but he thought that because he didn't have a soul. Once he had the soul and gained full human understanding, he realized that it was foolish at best. And that's why he tried to keep that he got his soul back from her. It's become another part of the torment he's experiencing. And that's why Spike, and his character arc, is one of the most fascinating studies in the entire Buffyverse.

I think its hilarious that Wesley gets blamed for Faith being an evil piece of crap for several reasons: 1. She was already evil before he even showed up. 2. He was her official 'watcher' for maybe a month and she never treated him as such. 3. Sge is responsible for her own choices and sctions. 4. Faith is evil who rapes, murders, assaults, abuses, and tortures anyone for her own personal pleasure. 5. She has never had morals.

I dont know how you feel about cosplay Dakara, but I think you could totally pull off Gwen.

I'm new to your channel but I have gone back and binge watched up to this point. I know that you have completed the series at this point on patreon (and if I had the extra income atm I would totally join so I could continue binge watching both your Buffy and Angel reactions) but I can't wait to see the roller-coaster of emotions you are about to experience in Seasons 7 and 4!

This was a really bad episode. Trubel should be a skilled fighter that injures, but does not kill. She shoplifts a sandwich and a bottle of water from a gas station, but buys a bag of chips. As she passes by a couple guys arguing about whose turn it is to by gas one of the shows his Wesen form. Trubel notices and he calls Tr4ubel a GRIMM and both of them attack her. She injures both and runs away. Nick and Hank are called in on the case. Adalind has moved into a small apartment with an air mattress, a folding chair, and a card table. She looks dirty and unkempt and it is obvious she has not been taking care of herself. Adalind tries to research different ways to kill Nick, but her Hexenbiest spirit will not allow it. We see how unstable a Hexenbiest can be with a Hexenbiest spirit that is not hers. Trubel begins doing odd jobs for people for food, drink, and money. Monroe needs help moving a chest and Trubel sees his Wesen form and is prepared for Monroe to attack her. Monroe soon realizes Trubel knows even less about GRIMMs and Wesen than Nick did and calls Nick. Nick introduces Trubel to what she is as a GRIMM. Adalind finally gives up fighting with her Hexenbiest spirit and demands to know what her Hexenbiest spirit will let her do. We see Adalind take Hexenbiest form and write in a notebook. Adalind looks at what was written and realizes it can be undone if necessary and can be done in a way so only Adalind can undo it. Adalind shows concern over how painful a part of the plan will be. Nick is wearing the glasses to hide his eyes and comments they will have to get a pair of Trubel. Nick's mother was also sent away with a pair of these galsses.

Wrapping up almost any series is difficult. Season 7 of BTVS is one of the better final seasons around.

An incredible performancxe from James Marsters in a soliloquy that is almost Shakespearean. The question is being posed is how does someone get on with life after they have done something awful? Maybe forgiveness isn't the answer, especially from the victim, but after doing something wrong, how do you live with yourself? Great writing.

I feel like Spike is very different to Angel though.... I'm well aware of how toxic Spike and Buffy's relationship was, but there's just something about him _wanting_ to get his soul back and do better as a person, that really gets me.... The demons/vampires/souls in the Buffyverse have always been a bit wishy washy (just like how all the magic is a very "soft" magic system, meaning it serves the plot and narrative, instead of having strict rules), but I truly believe that Spike's character without a soul shows that he was originally a better person than Angel (it's essentially confirmed on multiple occasions, particularly in Dopplegangland about Willow's vampire alter ego), that turning into a vampire just amplifies your innate bad behaviors and desires (like they're "id" monsters or whatever), and Spike cares when he technically DOESN'T have a soul... , it's hard to explain, but even back in season two with the Judge (I think) there's a comment about how demons/vampires don't or can't love (it might actually be season 4, but I think I s brought up in season 2), and Drusilla says something to my effect of "we do love intensely" or something, and maybe even quotes Shakespeare?

That last scene STILL makes me tear up. So Powerful! He got his soul back so he would never hurt her again.

This ending scene has some of the best acting these two do in the series. Like with Dawn's sudden appearance in season five, there are a lot of things going on that the audience doesn't understand yet. It'll clear things up later, then a rewatch of Spike's scenes will help. The estate Willow and Giles are at is actually Tony Head's property. In my opinion, and what I think the show shows a bit here, is that Buffy does have PTSD from Spike trying to rape her. The sad realization is, now that he has a soul, under normal circumstances she could have let go of her excuses and let herself love him, but because of what he did before, she can't trust him or love him. As angry as the whole rape storyline made me, I am so glad they didn't sweep it under the rug and that they both show the effect of it. I don't think Spike got his soul back only for Buffy. I think he did do it to be the man who never would rape or try to rape the woman he loved. He wanted to be a better man. Not just for her, for himself, too. I think he horrified himself, because he had changed that much from his evil days. Dawn's wake up on fire line is my favorite line she speaks in the entire series.

I think you missed the point of the ending monologue. Spike wasn't blaming Buffy for anything at all. He essentially was saying that he fought for his soul because he wanted to be a better man....the sort of man who would not for example grape Buffy.

Xander is such a hypocrite for constantly whining about Angel turning evil and then is responsible for his own fiance turning into an even more dangerous demon that could end the world with a couple words

Yeah, you need to watch the ending again, i think you bit misunderstood it. At least few parts.

I don't think he was blaming her. U know that saying "I will walk to hell and back for y" or I will go to the ends of the earth for y" Something like that. 😅 It was Spike sacrificing himself for who he thinks is his true love. He never wanted a soul, but he thought to be worthy enough for her and to not be that guy who would hurt her, he needed a soul Cuz she loved Angel, so maybe she can love him.

This should be episode 17. Adalind is passed out in the guest room at Sean's and Sean goes to the sink, gets a partially full glass of water and then gives it to Diane. Diane drinks, gives the glass back to Sean and then goes into the guest room and gets in bed next to Adalind to sleep. Sean looks at the glass and then at his daughter. Sean is coming to realize why his daughter has not spoken. Diane is a telepath. Nick is calling Ariel and T to come and check out his mother's phone. He also calls Monroe and Rosalie about what is happening. Nick then calls Sean to let him know that Nick's mother has been sent there to kill Sean and Adalind. This would make the Royal the closest living relative to Diane. Nick stays long enough to make sure everything is okay with his mom, Ariel, and T before leaving to see Sean. Nick is there talking to Sean when Diane comes back out. She seems upset and confused by Nick. Sean has Nick leave while Sean thinks about what to do next. A secondary battery is found in the phone to power the GPS system. A plan is worked out to remove Adalind from the house to be interviewed by the detectives about her mother and the bodies at the cabin. Sean will arrange for the Royals to pick his daughter up at the house while watched by Rosalie. Nick, Sean, Ariel, Monrow, Nick's mother, and Hank will be masked and ambush the Royals by their plane taking Diane back. The Nyad will pull a small boat down the river outside of the city and will meet up with a small camper on a side road. Nick's mother will leave with Diane to take care of her and keep her safe. Diane cannot communicate telepathically with a GRIMM so she will have to learn to speak. Adalind will be very upset about her daughter being gone and will leave before Sean can return to explain things to her. Sean tells Adalind that he gave Diane to the Royals to keep her from attempting to go after Diane and perhaps accidentally picking the right direction.

Well maybe if Wesley's feeling a bit bad about being abandoned he should have explained it before he did it. I'm a Wesley fan and you can make a 1001 excuses for Wesley's actions but it's because of his actions that he is in the situation he's in. Angel is not inclined to listen to a man who stole his son with a warning.

Those scenes were not only filmed in England, but on Anthony Stewart Heads own home grounds.

Loved the part at the end. Fred is feeling a little paranoid. She was alone on Pyalia, and now has a family; except that her "found family" is disappearing all around her. Gwen would have been an interesting addition to the group if the writers had gone that way. And no, she probably has never met a vampire until now.

Spike might not have met the mayor but definitely knows and more then likely has met The Master regardless of if he was in season 1.

I liked Gwen, and thought Joss may have been testing the waters with her. She can deliver the snark like he prefers in actors. Although it wouldn't be the first time a one off character looked like a potential recurring one. I was going to talk about the kiss, but you got there. :)

The key line that Spike says in the church, in answer to Buffy's questioning why would he get his soul back, he says "To be the kind of man who would never" - never hurt her, never try to rape her. When he was human and had a soul, he wouldn't ever have thought about hurting the one he loved. In that bathroom, after she threw him off, Buffy said that act was why she would never be with him - and Spike's guilty mind connected getting his soul back, to being a better man, to giving Buffy what she deserved, and to it being what both she and God wanted. So, like everyone else said, he's not blaming Buffy... he just desperately loves her and wants to be the kind of guy that she could love back.

some of spike's speech references reveals from future episodes. it's not to be understood on first viewing. honestly, little about spike in early season seven can really be understood on first viewing.
